Mocimycin (Kirromycin) is an antibiotic originally isolated from Streptomyces and an inhibitor of protein biosynthesis. It inhibits isoleucine incorporation, polyphenylalanine synthesis, and growth of B. brevis. Kirromycin inhibits elongation factor Tu-dependent peptidyl transfer activity in E. coli.
