Concanavalin A is a lectin protein (MW 104kDa), homotetramer 26 kDa, originally extracted from the jack-bean, Canavalia ensiformis. It binds specifically to certain structures found in various sugars alpha-mannosyl and alpha-glucosyl residues in glycoproteins.
