Non ionic detergents like Triton X100 are used in immunoassays for diluting antibodies to lower background, and non-specific antigen-antibody (ag-ab) reaction. This detergent is also used in washing buffer from 0.1- 0.5% in all immunoassays (ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Blot assays and others) to reduce background.

This detergent is supplied as 50% in water with 0.15 % preservative.
