Albomycin delta1 is a selectively targeting bacterial ribosome antibiotic (antibiotic) with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.0625 µg/mL against S. pneumoniae. It exerts its bactericidal effect by covalently binding to the 70S ribosome and irreversibly inhibiting peptidyl transferase. Albomycin delta1 holds promise for research on infections caused by S. pneumoniae and S. aureus.
