PXYC1 acts as an antagonist of ribosomal protein S1 (RpsA), a key protein in the translation process of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. PXYC1 exerts its antituberculosis activity by binding to the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the RpsA protein, exhibiting binding affinities (Kd) of 0.81 µM and 0.31 µM for the wild-type and delta438A mutant, respectively.
