Picoberin is a potent inhibitor at low picomolar concentrations, effectively blocking osteoblast differentiation induced by the Hedgehog signaling pathway. As a strong aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) agonist, it also inhibits Wnt3A-induced osteoblast differentiation in C3H10T1/2 cells. Additionally, Picoberin upregulates genes encoding phase I and II metabolic enzymes.
